Designing a knit and purl blanket has been as joy! It is amazing how the basic knit and purl stitch can create a beautiful, elegant blanket. Honestly, with 6 different sections, this blanket will fly off you needles and delight many.
I don’t design one size blankets as I realize that there are so many different needs for a throw. From a baby security blanket to a full size Afghan and all sizes in between. You will love knitting this simple, yet delightful pattern.
There are 6 different blanket sizes in this pattern:
Security: 14” (35.5 cm) x 18” (46 cm)
Stroller: 28” (71 cm) x 36” (91.5 cm)
Lap: 36” (91.5 cm) x 48” (122 cm)
Receiving: 40” (102 cm) x 40” (102 cm)
Toddler: 43” (109 cm) x 52” (132 cm)
Afghan: 48” (122 cm) x 60” (152.5 cm)
Amount of yardage:
Security: 246 yards / 221 m
Stroller: 840 yards / 755 m
Lap: 1412 yards / 1270 m
Receiving: 1328 yards / 1195 m
Toddler: 1822 yards / 1640 m
Afghan: 2360 yards / 2124 m
The yardage for each section is broken down in the pattern. You are welcome to knit this blanket in different colours.
Gauge: 18 stitches x 26 rows = 4″ (10 cm) x 4″ (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
Needles: 8 mm (5 US) circular needles or size needed to get gauge.
