Mystery Knit Afghan 2026

written by KnotEnufKnitting December 4, 2025

Mystery Knit Afghan 2026: $12.00 USD

Mystery Knit Afghan / Pillow Set 2026: $16.00 USD

Welcome to the Mystery Knit Afghan 2026! This is our 10th Mystery Knit Afghan. The theme for the Afghan this year is … Cables and Lace. I love designing cables and I love the look of cables and lace together!

This year, the Mystery Knit will be broken down into 7 different clues. Each clue will be full of cables, lace and seamless!  Thus, there will be no seaming at the end of this mystery knit.  Plus, this year, there will be NO picking up stitches.  Hence, it is a straight knit from the cast on to the bind off.

A comment from a previous Mystery Knitter:

“For those of you who have never joined the Mystery KAL afghan, you are in for a treat. The patterns are always well written. They are not hard, but you do have to pay attention to what you are doing. It is so fun to chat with everyone while knitting. It usually takes me a week or two to do the clue. I still have time to do other knitting for the rest of the month.”

Why a Mystery Knit Afghan?

Have you tried knitting an Afghan, only to get tired of the same stitch pattern over and over? I have! Honestly, I must admit that I LOVE knitting these Afghan patterns since there is change in each section that keeps the pattern challenging and interesting. Seriously, these Afghans fly off my needles because I have a hard time putting them down, AND the best part, these Afghans are SEAMLESS! Absolutely NO seaming is required. However, when you join the Mystery Knit Afghan, you will have a year to complete your Afghan. Ultimately, this Afghan will be ready to be gifted for Christmas, or for you to snuggle under during the cold months.

How does the Mystery Knit work?

This Mystery Knit Afghan is broken down into 7 different clues. However, these clues are spread out throughout 2026. Thus, upon purchase, you will receive an information file on what you need to get ready for the Mystery Knit. On each specified day, you will receive the next clue. If pattern is purchased on this website, you will receive an email with a link to download the next clue. When you purchase on Ravelry, you will receive the clue as an update in your Ravelry library. Otherwise, if you purchase on Etsy, I will email you each new clue.

Finally, there is ONLY a one time purchase for the Mystery Knit. The one time purchase includes all 7 clues. It does not, however, include the Mystery Knit Pillow unless you purchase the Mystery Knit Afghan plus Pillow set.

When are the clues launched?

  • Dec. 12th – Afghan launch
  • Jan. 9th – Clue 1
  • Feb. 20th – Clue 2
  • Mar. 27th – Clue 3
  • May 1st – Clue 4
  • June 12th – Clue 5
  • August 7th – Clue 6
  • Sept. 18th – Clue 7
  • Oct. 16th – Mystery Knit Pillow (only included in the Afghan/Pillow Set)

Where is the MKAL hosted?

Welcome to join one or both of the two groups where you can meet other knitters from around the world who are also knitting this Afghan. Share your progress and see the inspiration of so many different knitters! It is a great knitting community.

SIZES

Once again there 3 different sizes for the Mystery Knit Afghan. You can choose which size you want to knit. They are all included in the pattern. There will be 3 pattern files. One for Standard, one for bonus and one for lap.

The pillow will be included for those who purchase the Afghan/Pillow Set.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

YARN

I have choose Simply Wool Worsted yarn for this Afghan. There are a few reasons why I have choose this yarn. Simply Wool Worsted yarn comes in natural colours. They remind me of nature. I also love the feel of this yarn. It is 100% wool and is very cozy! It is also very easy to knit with. Choose Simply Wool Worsted yarn and you will not be disappointed.

YARDAGE

Note: The number of skeins are based on a 218 yard skein of yarn.
