Mystery Knit Afghan 2020

written by KnotEnufKnitting December 13, 2019

Mystery Knit Afghan 2020

It feels that the years keep on flying by. This will be our fourth Mystery Knit Afghan. Are you excited to get going again?! It has been so fun designing these afghans. Every year, I have so many ideas, but I can’t put them all into one afghan. So, the ideas will wait until the next year!

New to our Mystery Knit Afghans? I started the Mystery Knit Afghan as I found it difficult to finish an afghan when the same pattern is knit all the way through. It got quite boring for me. I like to keep knitting interesting and challenging. So, I decided to design an afghan with many different sections. Each section is a different pattern, but flows nicely with the previous section. I found that these afghans began to fly off my needles. I have gotten so many comments from Mystery Afghan Knitters on how much they enjoy the afghans! If you haven’t knit one of these afghans, it is time you join us! You will have so much fun as we all knit together and share our projects and questions along the way!

This year, I am launching TWO Mystery Knit Afghans! Why two you might ask? I have contemplated on how easy or difficult to make the afghans. I recognize that every knitter has a different set of skills. I don’t want knitters to get frustrated with the Mystery Knit as it is supposed to be relaxing and fun! Who doesn’t use knitting to destress? I must admit that I do! To keep it less stressful for everyone, I have designed two different skill level afghans. Mystery Knit Afghan A, is designed for an advanced beginner skill level. Mystery Knit Afghan B, is designed for an intermediate skill level. Now, you can choose which level you want to attempt! Or, maybe you want to attempt both of them? They are completely different, so you wouldn’t be disappointed!

The theme for this year’s afghans is Cables! Each afghan will be loaded with cables. So, so exciting! I love cables in knitting! If you like knitting cables, you won’t be disappointed with this afghan!

Once again, each afghan will come in 3 different sizes:
Standard Size Afghan: 48” x 60” (122 cm x 153 cm )
Bonus Size: 60” x 72” (153 cm x 183 cm), or
Lap Blanket Size: 36” x 48” (91 cm x 122 cm)

You can purchase the Mystery Afghan 2020 A and Mystery Afghan 2020 B patterns here.

(If you can give this stunning afghan away.. )

Colour Palettes

We have chosen KnitPicks Swish Worsted Weight yarn for our afghan yarn this year. We are loving the selection of colours with this yarn. There are so many to choose from!

These afghans have been designed to work well with 4 different colours. We have designed some colour palettes you can choose from. I do not recommend using more than 4 colours on this afghan. The colour should be changed after every second clue. The transition is designed to be smooth. You can also choose to knit your afghan in one solid colour.  Both Afghan use the same amount of yarn.
