Mystery Knit Afghan 2018

written by KnotEnufKnitting December 13, 2017

Welcome to our Mystery Knit Afghan for 2018!

Maybe you enjoyed our Mystery Knit Afghan 2017, and are set for another. This year our blanket is knit in colour. Further down, we’ve posted our colour recommendations for you. For this mystery knit, you will get every clue automatically on Ravelry starting January 15. So, get your yarn and needles ready!

This Afghan is a mixture of stitches. Some sections are cabled, some are squares and some are one knit pattern. The design changes to keep you interested section after section, and when it’s all put together it makes a beautiful seamless blanket.

Get the pattern here. Or on Ravelry here.

How it works:

A portion of the Afghan will be released every 4 weeks. There will be a total of 10 parts, and 11 clues for this afghan. In 44 weeks, you will have a completely seamless knit afghan. You will be able to enjoy your afghan by Christmas!

Colour Palettes:

Here’s your chance to experiment with colours, or go with one solid colour! We have also  designed a few colour palettes that you can use if you wish. Or you can use them for inspiration when choosing your colours.  Let your inner designer go…
We chose colour palette #1 ‘Sandstone’ for our blanket, and we couldn’t be happier with how the colours work with the design. These are all done in hues of Cascade 220 Superwash from LoveKnitting. This yarn has been a dream to work with!

Palette #1 Sandstone

In order from top to bottom, skeins per colour in brackets:

a) silver grey 1946 (1)
b) feather grey 0875 (1)
c) charcoal 900 (2)

e) baby denim 897 (1)
f) ridge rock 0874 (2)
g) alaska sky 1914 (1)
h) gray 0816 (1)
i) space needle 0892 (3)
j) frosted almond 228 (1)
*border is space needle

Some used the colour palette Sandstone, and started from the bottom up. If you used Frosted Almond for clue #1, use this colour palette:

"This is officially my favorite knitted project (and that’s over 10 years of knitting!)"(Joy Cardigan)

"This sweater pattern is easy, pretty, fun to knit, and looks so professional! Even picking up stitches which isn't too easy for me, she makes it easy to do! It's great, can't wait to finish it and begin the hat that goes with it. Lara is patient and answered all my questions and dealt with my frustrations!" (Little Elsa's Sweater)
