My Little Mermaid Story

written by KnotEnufKnitting May 12, 2016

The internet really does make this world a smaller place. I have so enjoyed meeting knitters from everywhere, and interacting with them online in conversation as I would meeting a friend over tea!

Often times knitters who knit my patterns will have ideas that they will suggest to me for future designs. One of the more recent suggestions was a mermaid tail! I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive to approach this project. I was venturing into a land of new knits, or was it a sea of new knits đŸ˜‰

Inspired by the underwater world, and mermaid fins, I was thrilled with the result that I had! The mermaid tail/blanket worked great as a prop for my baby girl!

Of course, girls being girls, the story doesn’t stop there. My older girls saw the mermaid tail, and each had their yarn colour chosen before I could say ‘mermaid’. In true designer fashion, I created a new pattern for the second tail, and three mermaid tails later, I now have an adult version completed!

Both the Ariel and My Little Mermaid tail double as an afghan, and are so comfortable. My 12 year old daughter loves to curl up and read in hers. It’s so satisfying to complete a project as big as that one, and it feels good to knit something that I know she can use well into her adult life.

My Little Mermaid Tail and Ariel Mermaid Tail blankets have been one of my most popular patterns recently! This tail is knit in the round and is completely seamless! (no sewing at the end, hooray!)

The little girl in your life will be as delighted as mine were to receive this treasured blanket!

Thanks to the KnotEnufKnitting online community, new ideas keep bursting to life. Keep the ideas coming, and happy knitting!

Til next time!

"This is officially my favorite knitted project (and that’s over 10 years of knitting!)"(Joy Cardigan)

"This sweater pattern is easy, pretty, fun to knit, and looks so professional! Even picking up stitches which isn't too easy for me, she makes it easy to do! It's great, can't wait to finish it and begin the hat that goes with it. Lara is patient and answered all my questions and dealt with my frustrations!" (Little Elsa's Sweater)
