Learn how to knit the 1/1/1 RPC without a cable needle to speed up your knitting! If you are like me, I am always looking for ways to make my cable knitting quicker and easier. It feels that the cable needle can be cumbersome and not so easy to use. At this point, I rarely use a cable needle anymore, unless the cable has many stitches. I find it much easier to work cables without a cable needle.
The 1/1/1 RPC is a cumbersome cable. It is more difficult than the 1/1/1 LPC in my opinion. But, it can be knit without a cable needle. It just requires one more step than the 1/1/1 LPC.
The instructions for the 1/1/1 LPC are as follows:
1/1/1 RPC – place next 2 stitches on cn and hold to back, knit 1 stitch from the left needle, place the last stitch from cn back to left needle, purl this stitch from left needle, k1 from cn
You can also work this cable without a cable needle. I have created a video tutorial to illustrate how this is done.
