Learn how to bind off the last stitch on a slipped stitch blanket edge. If you have knit my blanket patterns, you will notice that most of them are designed with a slip stitch edge. This creates a beautiful, smooth edge on your blanket. However, it can be a little bit difficult when you get to the bind off. Recently, a test knitter of mine struggled with this bind off. I took some time to think about how I bind off my blankets and realized there is a very easy trick that helps! It is one small minor modification. I have been doing this the whole time I have been knitting, and I haven’t realized the magnitude of this little trick.
Usually, when you bind off you want a nice square edge on a blanket. The last stitch on a slipped stitch edge is a little looser than the other stitches because it was slipped on the previous row. If you add this little trick into your bind off, you will notice that your blanket edge is once again square.
I have created a little video tutorial to illustrate this little trick.
Enjoy and happy bind off!
