The Double Chain Cast on is my favourite knitting cast on. I absolutely love it! It creates a beautiful cast on edge that I don’t think can be beat. If you haven’t learned how to work this cast on, I have a video tutorial here: How to work the Double Chain Cast on.
Recently, one of my test knitters asked why she had a large gap between the double chain cast on and her first row of knitting. I was stumped. I didn’t think that I had run across that before. We discussed a few options of what it might be, but never came up with a certain answer.
After discussing with her, I went back to designing and using the Double Chain Cast on. I realized why she was getting a gap and why I wasn’t. It was very simple. I was doing another step without even realizing it. It all made perfect sense. I had to create video to let you know what this trick is. Watch this video to learn how to knit your first row after using the double chain cast on. I warn you though… It will be hard to go back to another cast on… This one is amazing! Let me know what you think.
